Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Aqua Lung 1000 Feet & Aqua Lung Depth Gauge w/Box

This is a wonderfully preserved and honest example of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Aqua Lung, dating from the early 1960s. The 41mm stainless steel case retains its crisp lines and appears unpolished, showing wear consistent with age. It features a screw-down back and the signature unidirectional bezel with its original Bakelite insert — beautifully intact, which is rare to see on these.

The dial is textbook early Aqua Lung, with large luminous numerals at 3, 6, and 9 and the clean, functional layout that defines the model. The lume has aged evenly to a warm, creamy tone, giving the watch a gorgeous vintage character. There’s patina and a trace of hand-drag visible on the dial — subtle reminders of the watch’s age and authenticity. The hands match perfectly in tone and patina, suggesting they’ve lived together since day one.

Inside beats the automatic AS 1361N movement with 17 jewels, running strong and keeping time within +2–3 seconds per day — impressive for a watch of this era. It’s fitted with what’s likely its original, period-correct black Tropic strap, complete with an “Acier” steel buckle. We’ve left it exactly as found — a bit of dirt and all — as it just feels right that way.

To top it off, the watch comes paired with a vintage Aqua Lung depth gauge and box, making this a truly appealing and complete package for any serious Blancpain or dive watch collector.
