Meylan 816A Chronograph

The Meylan ref. 816A is a classic 1960s Swiss chronograph that blends clean vintage design with proven mechanical pedigree. While less well known than Omega or Heuer, Meylan produced high-quality chronographs powered by respected Swiss movements. This example houses the Lemania 1873, a highly regarded manual-wind calibre celebrated for its reliability, durability, and refined construction.

The dial features a balanced, highly legible layout with evenly spaced recessed subdials, applied hour markers and contrasting scales. It remains in excellent condition, showing only light age-related wear, including minor spotting in the subdials and gentle patina to the lume plots, adding warmth and originality.

Its 38mm stainless steel case remains unpolished, preserving the watch’s sharp lines and original proportions. Light surface wear is present throughout, with heavier scratches on the case back, while the bezel retains strong definition despite minor wear to the insert. The watch wears comfortably and feels modern by contemporary standards. It is fitted with a quality Davarg leather strap. The watch has not been serviced but is functioning properly.

Though relatively little is documented about Meylan chronographs, the ref. 816A stands out for its purposeful design, dependable Lemania movement, and understated vintage character; an honest, functional chronograph with enduring collector appeal.
